Indications of Norfloxacin
Norfloxacin is essentially used for the treatment of bacterial infections. A fluoroquinolone antibiotic, Norfloxacin works through killing sensitive bacteria.
When Not To Use Norfloxacin
Norfloxacin should not be used when: you are allergic to an ingredient found in Norfloxacin or in any other fluoroquinolones like Levoflaxacin; you have tendonitis or inflammation of the tendon; you have a family history of ruptured tendon which is caused by Norfloxacin or by any other fluoroquinolones like Levofloxacin; you have been or are taking antiarrhythmic medicines like Amiodarone, Dofetilide, Disopyramide, Nitrofurantoin or Quinidine. If any of these are true to you, make sure to contact your doctor or physician immediately.
Administration of Norfloxacin
Norflaxacin must be used only as directed by a physician. Additionally, you must check the drug label for the correct and exact dosage instructions. Norflaxacin must be taken at least an hour before meals or 2 hours after having meals or drinking or eating milk and/or other dairy products.
Norfloxacin must also be taken with a glass of water. Make sure that you would also be drinking additional fluids as you take Norfloxacin. It would be advisable to consult you’re your doctor for any other instructions or recommendations.
Also make sure that you would not be taking any products which contain: aluminum, magnesium, iron, calcium or zinc like vitamins and minerals, antacids; sucralfate; didanosine or bismuth subsalicylate two hours before or two hours after taking a dose of Norfloxacin.
So that your infection would be cleared up completely, you would need to continually take Norfloxacin for the entire course of treatment even when you already feel better. You should not miss any doses of Norfloxacin.
If a dose of Norfloxacin is missed, you would need to make sure that you would be taking the dose as soon as you remember to. However, it the next Norfloxacin dose is almost up, you could skip the dose you missed and go back to the schedule you already have. Never take two Norfloxacin doses at the same time.
