Amoxicillin could be taken orally in a full or an empty stomach. If you experience stomach upset, you could take the medication so that stomach irritation would be reduced. Amoxicillin should not be swallowed in whole or chewed.
Amoxicillin should be placed in 2 teaspoons or 10 milliliters of water only and not any other liquid. Stir or swirl up until the tablet has already been completely mixed and the mixture should be consumed immediately after mixing. Also, rinse the container of the mixture with a small amount of water to drink so that you would be sure that the medication has been taken completely.
In order to completely clear up an infection, amoxicillin should be taken for the entire course of the treatment. It should be taken continuously even if you already feel better ina couple of days.
If ever a dose of Amoxicillin is missed, it should be taken immediately. But if ever it is already time for the next dose to be taken, the missed dose could just be skipped so that you could go back to your regular schedule of doses. Two doses of amoxicillin should never be taken at once.
You need to ask your doctor or physician any questions that you have on how to take amoxicillin.
Important Safety Information on Amoxicillin
Amoxicillin could cause dizziness, which could be worsened if the drug is consumed with alcohol or some other medicines. Amoxicillin should also be used with caution. Until you already know how you would be reacting to the medicine, you should not drive or do any other unsafe tasks.
Also, amoxicillin works just against bacteria and does not serve as a treatment for viral infections like the flu or a common cold.
Make sure that you would be taking amoxicillin for the entire course of the recommended treatment. This is because if you do not, your infection might not be completely treated. Also, the bacteria might become less sensitive to the drug or to other medications, making the infection even harder to treat later on.
